Full Stack Web Development

FermiFighters was a project for UCLA’s CS35L class, a class that has a reputation within UCLA’s CS department. The goal is to create a full stack web app written in modern web frameworks (react, node.js). My group decided to create a game based around fermi questions, an event in the Science Olympiad. I led this project architecting and writing much of the front & backend.

The frontend was themed to be visually similar to the popular online typing game monkeytype, using react material ui. Some highlights are using local storage to store website state without needing user authentication and dynamic theming.

The backend was written in node.js and used a firebase database. We used firebase for both authentication and storage allowing for secure user data storage and easy display of user data and statistics to the user.
