Technical Writing, Documentation, Open Source Software

I started flying drones at age 11 and they have been an important part of my engineering journey. When I found ExpressLRS in June of 2020 it was a small project that was operating off existing hardware and some DIY hardware with about 200 people in it’s community discord. As a new user I read the GitHub Wiki and was able to flash some hardware and use it. I however felt that the documentation was severely lacking compared to other open source projects like betaflight and openTX had. With another user in the community I completely overhauled the wiki to a fully functioning guide.

ExpressLRS grew fast though, from a project with only a few hundred users to now having community groups with 22 thousand (and growing) members. With that came off the shelf products designed in concert with the software developers needs. I helped build & launch the website moving from a more page based wiki setup to a fully fleshed quick start guide and documentation on hardware and software features for user reference. This documentation has grown to a point that the website has had nearly 8 thousand new users in the past month.
