I started flying drones at age 11 and they have been an important part of my engineering journey. When I found ExpressLRS in June of 2020 it was a small project that was operating off existing hardware and some DIY hardware with about 200 people in its community discord. As a new user, I read the GitHub Wiki and was able to flash some hardware and use it. I however felt that the documentation was severely lacking compared to other open source projects like betaflight and openTX. With another user in the community, I completely overhauled the wiki to a fully functioning guide.
ExpressLRS grew fast though, from a project with only a few hundred users to now having community groups with 28 thousand (and growing) members. With that came off-the-shelf products designed in concert with the software developers’ requirements. I helped build & launch the website moving from a more page-based wiki setup to a fully fleshed quick start guide and documentation on hardware and software features for user reference. This documentation has grown to the point that the website has had more than 270 thousand new users over the past 12 months.
